ENGLISH HONORS/AP SUMMER READING (9-12 GRADE)
The summer reading program is designed to challenge, motivate and entertain High School students taking Honors/ AP English courses in order to encourage life-long reading habits. Research shows that students that regularly read often have a stronger vocabulary, higher test scores, do better in school, and are more prepared to succeed in college.
All reading assignments are to be completed by August 31 (students enrolling after August 1st will have until September 13).
English 9 Honors
Read “The Glass Menagerie” and “A Raisin in the Sun”. There will be a test and an in-class essay in the Fall when classes resume.
English 10 Honors
Read Edith Hamilton’s Mythology and complete the assignment.

English 11–AP Language & Composition
Read the novels below. There will be assignments when classes resume in the Fall.
· Read Jill Ker Conway’s “The Road from Coorain”
· Read Annie Dillard’s “An American Childhood”
English 12– AP Literature & Composition
