Frequently Asked Questions
What curriculum is used for VCS Online?
With a commitment to biblical worldview shaping, academically rigorous textbooks, development of critical thinking skills, and engaging technology enhancements, BJU provides a comprehensive curriculum for all VCS Online courses utilizing video lessons and assignments.
What can I expect to pay for curriculum?
The cost of curriculum will vary by grade level. With optional choices including pre-printed worksheets, manipulatives, and hard-copy books to supplement the provided digital copy, our online representative will work with you to ensure you have all of the materials you need for a successful year. You can expect to pay $175-$300 depending on grade and chosen options.
What does a typical school day look like?
A typical school day at home will be determined by the needs of your family. The amount of time needed to complete online work at home will be significantly less than the typical school day. Total learning times can range from 1 hour per day for younger learners and up to 5-6 hours per day for older learners. We recommend that you make a schedule that works for your family. Make sure you include age-appropriate breaks spaced throughout the learning day.
What is the parent’s role?
Parents hold the primary responsibility for ensuring the student is prepared to learn. Once a student is enrolled, parents agree to partner with Victory Christian School Online to accomplish the process of education for the student. Parental involvement daily is necessary for student success!
Parents are given a separate log in and password to view student progress, grades, and in some cases student answer keys to correct their child’s assignments. Lesson plans for courses are all set up for parents and students to view!
Does VCS Online support students with learning disabilities and/or IEP’s?
No, at this time we are not prepared to support students with learning disabilities through distance learning.
When may I enroll?
Families may enroll their students at any time with the understanding that courses will need to be completed by the end of June.
Will my student receive a report card?
Yes! Upon enrollment, students will be entered into our online grading information system called RenWeb. Families will be given a login to view their student’s progress and final report card.
What if I need more help with understanding a concept?
A digital tutor offers opportunities to further student understanding in difficult concepts. This site provides extra practice exercises as well as more videos for further explanation.
What are the technology needs for VCS Online?
VCS Online requires internet access and a device that allows students to watch lesson videos and complete online assignments.
